Design A Website To Attract More Clients
We have asked some questions about your current website, or the website you plan to build, but you are probably wondering how you address the issues and questions we have raised.
Let's start with the issues we raised above:
Search Engine Optimization - To sell a product or service to your prospective customer, you must first get them to visit your website. Advertising isn't the answer, unless you are willing to buy ads from search engines that will give you great placement in the search results list when a customer searches for one of your keywords.
Those ads are pretty expensive.
You are better served to focus on the search engines and directories.
Remember, that most customers will only look at the first 2-3 links the search engines delivers in the search results list, so you need to be among the first few sites to get your customer's attention.
Here are some things you need to consider as you design or re-design your site:
1. Keywords and Keyword Phrases
Do some research on sites like this one:

Type in the keyword(s) you think are going to work on your site, and see if these are actually the ones that most customers use.
Remember that you must anticipate misspellings as well and include commonly misspelled words in your keyword list so you don't lose a customer just because they don't know how to spell.
And, don't forget keyword PHRASES. Let's go back to the 'Governors Tee Shirt' site for a moment.
The owner of this business obviously knows that his customers will search for keywords like 'tee shirt' and 't-shirt', but do you think he has considered keyword phrases or variations on keywords like these?
If the owner does not know how his customers look for information online, how can he ensure he is using the right keywords?
Of course, you can't use all these keywords, but you can pick the top phrases and words, and ensure that a large percentage of associated online searches will lead to your site.
When you put together your keyword phrases and lists, look for variations in word sequence as well.
Notice in the example above that some people searched for 'personalized t shirt', and some searched for 'custom t shirt design'. There may even be a significant number of searches for 't shirt custom designed'. That is why your research is so important!
There are many places you can use keywords to increase your search engine ranking.
Consider these:
<TITLE> tag(s)
<META NAME="DESCRIPTION"> tag(s)
Body copy and content
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="HIDDEN"VALUE="[place a list of your keywords here]">
URL (website address)
<H1> or headline tag(s)
<META NAME="KEYWORD"> tag(s)
ALT tag(s)
<A HREF="http:// governorsteeshirts. com/ otherpage. htm"></A> link tag(s)
